Are you at it again?
by
Every Sunday, I would attend a club race (last Sunday as an anomaly because I did a ‘Sunday Coluzzi’ in the eastern suburbs in lieu of racing at Heffron Park).
Every day, I go to sleep in the same bed, wake up the next day, do my hygiene and fitness stuff, do some work, eat a few times, mostly talk to the same people, and travel the same roads Then I hit the same bed and repeat all over again.
The most amazing thing is that after 57 years of repetition, I have not got bored yet.
If you ride a bike, you keep going round and round in circles. Every pedal stroke is the same as the one before. Yet we love to go cycling. So there must be some reason why we put up with repetitive stuff ….
When I was in the midst of the building construction game, I discovered that 5 years of engineering theory training was worth only one thing to the builder. It was in the ability to engineer variations to the contract – because this was about the only area that the builder was able to make a buck.
So the secret to it all is in the variations.
After 57 years, no single day has been the same for me. Every day has been a little bit different to the one just before
Just like the amazing ability to take a head with a pair of eyes, a nose, mouth and a set of ears – and creating 7.2 Billion unique faces in this world. Life exists purely because of the variations.
Someone once said that the only certainty in life is change and the only reason that this is so true is because variation causes this change and it is the glue that holds life together.
Rest assured that your tomorrow will be a repeat of your today. But take heart in the knowledge that something about it will be different. Look for the variations and welcome them – because if you ever wondered why you are here on this earth, then being a part of the variation movement is the first step in unlocking the truths of life.
